Sweet Skins is an Eco fashion company making gorgeous organic garments lovingly in little Eugene, Oregon. Though we make clothes, we have a passion for using and supporting eco products used on the body as well. Personally, I have very sensitive skin making finding products sometimes difficult. Thankfully, I have figured out a couple things that have worked, oil cleansing being one of them. Recently I made the jump and decided to try out a Badger Balm product called Badger Argan Face Cleansing Oil.
Cleansing oil is interesting as it uses the idea that like gets rid of like. Throwing it back to how it came about:
“ Before the widespread availability of soap, which has existed for thousands of years but was not produced industrially until the 19th century, people in many cultures used oil to cleanse the body. For example as part of a visit to the baths ancient Romans rubbed oil into their skin and removed both the oil and any dirt with a strigil (an instrument with a curved blade that took sweat and dirt off their skin). “
Fast forward two centuries and we’re still doing this ancient practice.
My results have been that after cleansing my face with the oil, my skin has an extreme smoothness that I have not gotten when using more abrasive cleansing products. Depending on your skin type, more aggressive forms of skin cleansing can leave your skin void of its natural oil and suppleness resulting in irritation. Oil cleansing is a very gentle and natural way to clean your skin. I love using this cleansing oil a couple days week; not only do I like the results but how neat is it to carry on an ancient practice that still works?
